Pre/Postnatal Mat & Equipment

We are offering two brand new classes, Preparation for Birth (from 36 weeks) and small group Postnatal on the Equipment exclusively for new mums. Also on Thursdays. Please check our timetable.

Please note Antenatal classes should be booked after 12 weeks of pregnancy.         Postnatal classes after 6 weeks from natural delivery or 12 weeks after a C-Section.

If affording the standard price for Postnatal classes is difficult, please email the studio for a reduced fee of £9/class or more depending on your circumstances. There are only a few of these spaces available.

Why Pilates?

Pilates exercises have been proven to help develop and retain a healthy pelvic floor, especially during and after pregnancy. A strong pelvic floor supports the organs of the lower abdominal area and by keeping this area strong one can prevent back pain and incontinence and avoid a long, inefficient labour. Delivery and recovery postpartum is also improved.  Pilates also helps to prevent and manage conditions such as Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD) also known as Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP).

Postnatal on the Mat

Babies are also very welcome in Mat Postnatal Classes. This incorporates the traditional Mat class but invites babies to lay on a mat next to Mum. Babies do not get the same workout attention as Mum, but are free to do what they feel like. Mums are also free to stop any time and feed if needed. Classes are from 45 min, up to 60 minutes in duration. For prices please refer to our Mat classes.

On the Equipment

New and future mothers receive a bespoke program to suit their maternity, postpartum and individual needs. These classes are especially recommended to address conditions such as Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD), chronic sciatic pain and other effects of pregnancy and giving birth. Please refer to our Equipment Classes for prices and more information.

All our groups or privates Equipment classes can be attended by both, Ante and Postnatal clients.

On the equipment mums & babies

It is a small group of no more than 4 mums, focusing on the core and whole body recovery. It will be more affordable than our general Equipment sessions and the attendants would be exclusively mums (as opposed as to our Equipment classes that have a mix population). Babies are very welcome! The environment will be relaxed, with space for feeding or comfort baby at any point if needed.

Antenatal On The Mat

Although Mat classes continue to provide individual instruction, attention and care, they are more affordable than Equipment classes. Classes target the right muscles and provide movement to assist both birth and post-birth recovery. They are also a great opportunity for meeting other women undergoing similar experiences. Classes are groups of up to 6 attendants.
